The ABV staff is pleased to announce it's endorsement of Peg Lautenschlager for Wisconsin Attorney General. Peg has been a leading advocate of civil rights for all people, clean air and clean water, and clean and open government.

In a time of back door corporate deals and childish partisan hackery, Peg has stood firmly for the public interest and the interests of Wisconsin. Peg has been taking on corporations and their destruction of Wisconsin's environment. She has taken on the corruption of our political leaders, both Democrat and Republican alike. Peg has possibly been the best elected official in Wisconsin over the past 4 years!

As an environmental advocate for Wisconsin, Peg has been a leader in the fight to keep our water and air clean. She has worked to hold developers and local governments accountable to environmental regulations. She has taken on fellow Democrat Governor Doyle in his attempts to deregulate Wisconsin's environmental protection standards. She has been an outspoken proponent of Mercury protections and regulations, and has been a leading advocate for reinstatement of the Wisconsin Public Intervenor. Her work has gained her the praise and support of environmental and conservation groups such as the River Alliance of WI, the Sierra Club, Trout Unlimited, Midwest Environmental Advocates, Clean WI, and others.

As an advocate of clean and open government, Peg worked to establish a public integrity unit to investigate and prosecute official misconduct. She has critized the closed door policies of the Democrat and Republican leaders in Madison, and she has courageously questioned the special interest deals of her own party leadership. According to Peg, "I believe in good government and am very concerned about the amount of money raised by legislators - especially during budget time. Government is for sale these days. And it's not so much what qualities you bring to the position but how much money you can raise."
