The Progressive Democrats of Wisconsin, an organization of hopeful Democrats who "seek to return the state's Democratic Party to its liberal and progressive base", had this to say about anti-war activist and Wisconsin Green Party candidate for US Senate Rae Vogeler:

"PDW will endorse alternative progressive and anti-war candidate Rae Vogeler (G) in opposing Sen. Herb Kohl in his 2006 Congressional race until he reverses his support for an illegal and immoral war on Iraq and supports progressive values"

Meanwhile, the local Democratic Party is still focused on the same old attacks on the Bush Administration for a failed Iraq War. Understandable since some of the loudest voices in the party are pro-war Dems ( see Hilary Clinton, Joe Lieberman, Even supposed anti-war Dems seem to have a war-hungry past (see Wesley Clark - old but good).

The are several Democratic leaders who have voraciously spoken out against the war recently (see John Murtha and Nancy Pelosi, also see Dennis Kucinich and Friends from January 05). Congratulations to them for standing against their own party.

So is the local Democratic Party on the Progressive Democrats side or the Clinton/Lieberman side? If their anti-war voice is anything like their absolute void in the local anti-war movement, I guess we'll be seeing the Clinton 08 signs anyday now. For the sake of dignity, let us all hope that Feingold announces soon enough. In the meantime, we have Rae Vogeler for US Senate!
